Soul of a Teacher

"If you want to learn something, read about it. If you want to understand something, write about it. If you want to master something, teach it."

Yogi Bhajan

This Yoga Training Series can be participated in many ways:

1) Take the whole Teacher Training program as outlined to the right and become a Certified Yoga Instructor. Even if you don`t want to teach right now, this is a great way to deepen your yoga practice, heal your life, and leave the door open for future opportunities!

2) Take Modules I & II: Your Sacred Journey Inwards. These weekends are designed to create a foundation of awareness and healing within us. This is important for becoming a yoga teacher - and all of us! So everyone is welcome to take these modules to begin (or deepen) their own healing journey.

3) Take any of Modules III - VIII individually. Each of these weekends are focused on a different aspect of yoga. You can choose the ones you`d like to take depending on your interest and schedules.

If You Want To Change Your Life!

This is possibly the most transformative 10 months that you can invest in yourself. One the one hand, it is a Certified Yoga Teacher Training Program. At the end, you have a yoga teacher's certificate and the knowledge and experience to teach yoga and meditation anywhere.

But because the deepest intention of the training is to heal our lives so that we can help others, it is actually perfect for anyone who wants to get their life on track, heal their past, find their inner truth, hear their inner guidance, and transform their life into the life that they truly want to live.

Yoga is not just something you do in a class or on a mat. Yoga is made up of the tools of being human. We learn how to breathe, meditate and calm ourselves. This is something that everyone should know how to do for our own mental health and well-being.

We learn about balanced eating, lifestyle, health, exercise, and yes – yoga!

We study different philosophies of life that help to put our worlds into perspective – so that we can forgive, love and find compassion for ourselves and others.

And we use all of these tools to actually heal ourselves!

If becoming a yoga teacher is our goal, then it's imperative to have done this deep inner work if we are ever going to be able sit in front of a group with any kind of empathy and compassion for what our students are going through.

If we don't want to teach yoga, then these ten months are an amazing journey to happiness and wellness!! And you get to do it with the support of a group of people who will become lifelong friends in the end!

If you are unsure, then just register for the first two modules - “The Sacred Journey Within”. These start us on our inner journey. After these, you will know whether you'd like to go all the way!

Scholarship spots are available for anyone struggling financially but really want to make this commitment to themselves!!

And in the end, we are ALL teachers... all the time... with every person we come into contact with.

If you are unsure about whether this training can help you, please call Katrina at the station at 519-524-5612 and we'll chat. :)

Accomodations

There are some beautiful B&Bs and motels that you can stay at in Goderich during your training.

But we will also happily find you a spare room or couch that you can sleep on from one of our many wonderful local friends!! Sometimes saving some money and staying with someone is the way.

Sometimes, the privacy and alone time that your own room brings is perfect too!

Soul of a Teacher: Yoga Teacher Training

altThis Yoga Teacher Training Program is primarily for becoming a Kundalini Yoga Teacher. But because the roots of all yoga traditions are the same, this training benefits teachers of all traditions.

This training is based on the question - What makes a good yoga teacher? It isn't just having taken a course and presenting the yoga to a group. There's more.

1) A sense of inner joy and peace: There is a certain foundation of peace and stillness that we must teach from. We must be clear about our own healing journey and come to a place of deep honesty with ourselves. We don`t have to be perfect - just deeply aware. This is the foundation we want to learn from.

- Modules I & II: The Sacred Inner Journey: Healing our Lives through Yoga

2) Understanding and Experience of the Teachings: Yoga is a combination of intellectual learning and personal experience. You can`t explain to someone what inner peace feels like. We must experience it for ourselves. In these modules, we will go deeply into the teachings, techniques, and philosophy of yoga.

- Module III: Meditation, Pranayama, & Deep Relaxation

- Module IV: Mudras, Mantra & Naam Yoga

- Module V: Yoga Anatomy & Physiology: Where East meets West

- Module VI: Asanas, Bandhs - from the Inside-Out

- Module VII: Philosophy of Yoga: Exploring Yoga's Roots

- Module VIII: Integrative Healing through Food, Lifestyle & Spirit

3) The ability to transmit the teachings - bringing the yoga to the people! We will explore having the compassionate and non-judgmental presence that allows students to feel safe to explore and grow within their practice. We will learn how to teach intuitively and empathically. We will learn how to bring yoga to everyone!! It is a healing art that everyone needs - the young & old, the fit & the injured - anyone desiring good health and peace in their lives.

- Modules IX & X: Bringing Yoga to the People

This training is based in Kundalini Yoga - as taught by Yogi Bhajan. The graduate will be able to teach Kundalini yoga classes to all demographics, hatha yoga to some groups, and meditation to everyone.

But more importantly, you will be a Yogi - which means that you will bring the philosophy of yoga to everything that you touch. Whether we are officially teaching yoga classes or not, we are always teaching and affecting people`s lives.

Yoga isn't something we do on a mat. It is the way we live.

"My Personal Philosophy of Yoga":

Osho once said that we should all become "Zorba the Buddha".  "Zorba the Greek" was a wild and fun character who enjoyed every moment of his life - sensually, intellectually, and emotionally. The Buddha found enlightenment and peace sitting under a Bodhi tree.

Imagine having the goal to be both. Imagine having that true inner calm of the Buddha - a wonderful peaceful centre that allows us to make choices in our lives that are in alignment with our true path. And then to enjoy life like Zorba - a life filled with fun and adventure - great food, great friends, great passions!!

This to me is the goal of any yoga practice - to fully heal our minds, bodies and souls so that we aren't continually tripping over our pasts. To be at peace and happy in our core. To know what our passions are and to have the desire, courage and energy to go after them.

This is true unity, true joy and true peace.

This is yoga.

This is what we will learn and experience in this training. This is what we will learn to share.
