Serious Fun! Theatre Sports
Theatre Sports uses drama to play improvisation games that can be played in pairs and teams. Improvisation games use acting 'on the spot'; no scripts, no memorized lines or planned blocking. It is creative genius in the moment! And the best thing about it is that successful improvisations come from using a series of acting tricks, rather than by possessing innate talent or confidence, which means everyone can learn to do it!
Along with techniques specific to improvisation, participants will be taught various acting techniques to enhance the fun and drama within theatre games, ie: character work, mime (objects and clothes), physical theatre, and voice play.
At the end of the 10 weeks, participants will showcase their new skills in our performance for family and friends call 'Seriously, whose line is it?' - a spoof of the television show 'Whose Line is it Anyway?'. Serious Fun! Theatre Sports is all about helping youth access their own creative potential, build skills, confidence and self-esteem, and experience the fun in collaboration and team work.
