Ballroom Basics
This class will teach all the basics of couple’s social dancing. We’ll learn about how to easily have a great frame together, how to enjoy the roles of leader and follower, and how to understand and to hear music so that you can dance to all kinds of music.
This class is designed for beginners. No dance experience necessary.
We will learn the basics of each dance for two weeks. This means that anyone can pick up the class as long as it is at the beginning of a new dance!!
The key to really getting dance in our bones is practice and repetition!! This is why we have given the option to do the whole season for only $120. This gives you the chance to learn the basics of five popular dances + take all of them again to refresh and practice them so that you can really master them!

Frequently Asked Questions:
1) What if I'm not a good dancer - I have no rhythm!!
No problem! All new things take time to learn. We often compare it to driving a car. Nobody can do it right away. It takes time. And then one day, it's just second nature. This is why we recommend taking the entire 20-week program. This will give you time to learn the steps, the musicality, the lead/follow, etc. and then you have another 10 weeks to practice - to really make it second nature!
2) Do I need a partner?
No, you don't need a partner. We are learning how to social dance, so we change partners all of the time. Plus, this lets the teacher dance as well!!
3) What? We have to change partners?? Yes, we always change partners when we learn for many reasons.
The most important is that you learn 100x faster when you dance with multiple people. When you only dance with one person, it is easy to get stuck on something. As soon as you move to someone else, simply being with that other person often removes that block and you are able to move on. By the time you both get back together, you'll have learned so much more than if you'd stayed together!
The other great reason is that you get to meet the other dancers! When we learn together, we become good friends quickly. (There's something about struggling together :) ). This makes Friday night dance class a fun social time with other fun people who love dancing!!
