Healing P.T.S.D. - Meditation Class
P.T.S.D. stands for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. In truth it isn't really a disorder. It is the result of experiencing something that our minds cannot handle. It is our mind's way of surviving in a world that it isn't sure that it can trust anymore.
Traumas can be: car accidents, abuse (of all kinds - experiencing and witnessing), medical procedures, tornadoes and anything else that leaves us "not-quite-right".
There is a stage in our healing where we need to talk about the trauma. We need to bring it out into the light so that it doesn't "own" us from our sub-conscious. If we can find some kind of resolution with it, that is wonderful. But usually, traumatic events are the kinds of things that we'll never understand why they happen.
The next step is "letting it go".
This is where meditation comes in.
Yogic philosophy says that feeling stillness inside is our natural state of being - that we are not designed to carry all the stresses that we do every day - that true peace and inner calm is completely possible - even when things have been very difficult.
And so, through specific meditation techniques, we will head towards that place of inner peace. Whether your trauma happened years ago or last week, meditation can help make our minds clear again.
In this course, we will learn the meditation series that we can do to heal whatever our traumas are. You will receive a CD that you can take home with the meditations on it to help you with your practice at home.
We will not be discussing our traumas. This class is about letting whatever the trauma is go and moving forward in our lives.
